* Main Menu *
The main menu contains three main options, and several
hidden ones (more on them in a minute).
The three main options, which are accessed by simply
clicking on the appropriate icon, are as follows ....
FIXTURES
Before Pro-Football can begin to predict anything, you
need to tell it exactly what matches are being played.
You do this by creating one or more fixture lists, which
are very similar in appearance to the fixed odds betting
coupons or pools coupons. At the beginning of a new week,
this will normally be your first action.
PREDICT
Once you have created your fixture lists, you can then set
Pro-Football to work.
RESULTS
Obviously, Pro-Football can't possibly predict anything
unless it knows what's been going on form-wise.
When you have the results for a set of matches, it's time
to enter Results mode and tell Pro-Football about them.
These options will be covered more in-depth in the relevant
help pages when you come to them.
As previously mentioned, there are also some hidden options.
These are features that won't be used quite so often, and
only clutter up the main menu the rest of the time.
To access them, just hold down the right mouse button, and
highlight the required option (same effect as holding down
the right mouse button on Workbench).
The hidden options are ...
USER-GUIDE
Basically, an introductory help page that explains the bits
of Pro-Football that don't fall into any other category.
It is ESSENTIAL that you read this before starting to make
predictions (if you haven't already done so, then you should
have a look at it when you've finished reading this).
ABOUT
Just some information about the version of Pro-Football that
you are using.
QUIT - Self explanatory really!
LEAGUE EDITOR
Pro-Football can be used all year round with both UK and
Australian football. The league editor allows you to
change the team and/or league names as required.
RESET LEAGUES
This option should be used with EXTREME caution. It will
reset the internal league tables! Two levels of re-setting
are available. ALL deletes everything (including team and
league names), whereas SOME only deletes the league table
data (goals scored, points etc).
RANDOM X's
Occasionally, there won't be all that many matches likely
to result in a draw. This may leave you a little short for
pools purposes, so the random feature simply generates 20
random numbers between 1 and 58. You may want to use this
in addition to the predictions!
RETURNS CALCULATOR
The majority of non-pools football bets for simply
predicting the outcome of a match (1,2,X) are just
straight-forward accumulators. Whilst not particularly
complicated, they can be a hassle to work out, especially
as one of the major bookies includes a 10-fold bet on their
coupons. The returns calculator allows you to work out
those bets with the minimum of fuss.
